ACT 210: Comptabilité Générale I (prérequis: FRL 101)

Ce cours expose l’ensemble des concepts et des composants fondamentaux de la comptabilité générale. Il s’agit d’une vue générale de l’entreprise, des flux, des comptes et leurs utilisations et de la traduction par des écritures comptables des événements économiques courants des entreprises industrielles et commerciales. Il entraîne l’étudiant à la détection, à la collecte et à l’enregistrement des données comptables ainsi qu’à l’utilisation du langage de la technique comptable orientée vers la prévision et la prise de décision.

 

ACT 210: Principles of Accounting I (prerequisite: ENL 101)

This course introduces students to the basic techniques of accounting in which they study how to record, classify, and summarize business events for financial reporting purposes. It also helps them to understand and know how to prepare financial statements, namely income statement; statement of owner's equity and balance sheet, and how they are related.

 

ACT 220: Comptabilité Générale II (prérequis: ACT 210)

L'étudiant, étant initié à la technique comptable concernant l'enregistrement des flux physiques et financiers mouvementant couramment la vie d'une entreprise, sera en mesure d'approfondir ses notions sur les exigences du plan comptable, sur la TVA et les lois libanaises en vigueur pour achever les différents travaux d'inventaire, ajuster les comptes et rectifier les écritures le cas échéant pour préparer l'établissement des états financiers.

 

ACT 220: Principles of Accounting II (prerequisite: ACT 210)

This course is a continuation of accounting one in which students are introduced to more details about financial statement items for better decision making.

 

ACT 320: Comptabilité Analytique (prérequis: ACT 220)

Ce cours concerne en particulier toute entreprise industrielle ayant besoin de déterminer ses différents coûts et notamment son coût de revient en passant par toutes les notions particulières qui en découlent, afin de pouvoir fixer son prix de vente. Il vise notamment à ventiler les charges d'une société entre fixes et variables et en déterminer par conséquence le seuil de rentabilité. De même il sert à élaborer des études prévisionnelles.

 

ACT 320: Managerial Accounting (prerequisite: ACT 220)

This course provides a sound foundation for understanding key accounting issues, in an enterprise. The general theme is dynamic engagement, a broad term that captures the essence of cost accounting confronting future accountants, and current thinking on what they will need to succeed.

 

ACT 410: Comptabilité des Sociétés (prérequis: ACT 220)

Ce cours a pour but de prendre connaissance des opérations à caractère particulier réalisées par la société, des opérations à caractère juridique et des opérations rattachées aux statuts de la société, notamment la constitution des sociétés, l'affectation des bénéfices, le calcul des différentes valeurs et les modifications du capital. Il permet de prendre connaissance des différentes étapes du cycle de vie de la société et de les traduire en écritures comptables.

 

ACT 410: Intermediate Accounting (prerequisite: ACT 220)

This course enhances knowledge about financial information in the continuing evolution of the accounting profession and accounting education. Emphasis is based on rational behind business transactions before addressing the accounting and reporting for those transactions.

 

ACT 420: Comptabilité Approfondie (prérequis: ACT 410)

Ce cours est une suite à celui de la comptabilité des sociétés. Il a pour but également de prendre connaissance d'autres opérations à caractère particulier réalisées par la société, des opérations à caractère juridique et des opérations rattachées aux statuts de la société, notamment la liquidation de la société, la fusion des sociétés et le financement de la société par émission d'un emprunt obligataire. Il permet de même de traduire ces opérations en écritures comptables.

 

ACT 420: Advanced Accounting (prerequisite: ACT 410)

This course provides a study in advanced financial accounting theory with emphasis on problems related to specialized accounting entities. Topics include partnerships, accounting for branches, business combinations and consolidated financial statements.

 

ACT 430: Audit (prérequis: ACT 320)
Ce cours sert à définir la notion d’audit et de décrire succinctement les principaux types d’audit. Une attention particulière est portée à l’audit interne et aux audits relatifs aux performances de l’entreprise et à l’information comptable et financière et au traitement d’audit documents financiers. Les qualités requises des auditeurs et la description de leur environnement professionnel seront exposées.

 

ACT 430: Auditing (prerequisite: ACT 320)

This course incorporates a study of the planning, evidence gathering, internal control review, sampling, and application of procedures used to audit assets, liabilities, equity and related income statement accounts of a profit-oriented enterprise. It includes an evaluation of the audit profession including professional standards, ethics and liability of certified public accountants (CPAs), as well as the different types of audit reports issued.

 

ACT 440: Taxation - المحاسبة الضريبية - Fiscalité (prerequisite: ACT 320)

تتضمن هذه المادة دراسة النظام الضريبي اللبناني ومعرفة كيفية احتساب وتأدية الضرائب وتعبئة نماذج التصاريح المعتمدة لدى وزارة المالية، وكيفية الإعتراض على الضرائب المفروضة.
يتألف البرنامج من ثلاثة مواضيع أساسية هي: الإجراءات الضريبية، قانون ضريبة الدخل في لبنان وقانون الضريبة على القيمة المضافة في لبنان، وتؤدي الدراسة العملية لهذه الأمور الى معارف يحتاجها التجار والمؤسسات والشركات في إحتساب الضرائب وتأديتها.

 

ACT 450: Comptabilité Internationale (prérequis: ACT 320)

Ce cours permet à l'étudiant de se familiariser avec les normes comptables internationales et d'envisager l'élaboration des états financiers à la base de ces normes. Il couvre d'une manière approfondie les normes les plus usuelles.

 

ACT 450: International Accounting (prerequisite: ACT 320)

The objective of this course is to set out International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) mission ad objectives, the scope of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), due process for developing IFRS and interpretations, and policies. IFRS’s apply to the general purpose financial statements and other financial reporting by profit-oriented entities- those engaged in commercial, industrial, financial, and similar activities, regardless of their legal form. Moreover entities other than – profit oriented business entities may also find IFRSs appropriate.

 

BUS 400: Ethique des Affaires et Leadership (prérequis: FRL 101)

Le cours fournit une approche pratique plutôt que philosophique de la dimension éthique des affaires. Le champ de l'éthique des affaires s'est élargi depuis l'an 2000, ou il a gagné en crédibilité. Ce cours traite des problèmes éthiques et des dilemmes entre les individus, les managers, et les organisations.

 

BUS 400: Business Ethics & Leadership (prerequisite: ENL 101)

This course focuses on current issues related to the understanding of socially and economically responsible human behavior within top management leadership of business, industrial and environmental issues. It reflects on business ethics and corporate social policy, through the evolution of social issues in the management. It analyses the major principles of public responsibility, values, nature, and culture as well as other issues related to human behavior and ethical conduct.

 

ECO 110: Economie Générale

L'objectif du cours est de pousser l'étudiant à acquérir les lois économiques de base qui lui permettront de se familiariser avec la logique économique et de pouvoir ainsi élaborer une analyse économique soutenue. L'Economie Générale observe différents thèmes : croissance et développement, les régimes économiques, fluctuations et crises économiques, et les objectifs de la politique économique. Elle a pour but d'enseigner à l'étudiant les politiques économiques structurelles et conjoncturelles afin qu'il puisse en déduire les principales règles de développement d'un pays.

 

ECO 110: General Economics

The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge about different economic laws and systems that will allow them to analyze different economic situations. General Economics covers different themes: problems of growth and development, economic systems, economic crisis and cycles, and economic policies.

 

ECO 210: Principes de Microéconomie (prérequis: QMB 210)

L’objectif du cours est de pousser l’étudiant à acquérir les lois économiques de base qui lui permettront de se familiariser avec la logique économique et de pouvoir ainsi élaborer une analyse économique soutenue. Le cours observe le comportement des individus et des entreprises et analyse leurs choix dans le domaine de la production, de la consommation et de la fixation des prix.  Il définit les conditions dans lesquelles les comportements individuels des consommateurs et des producteurs conduisent à un optimum économique, et cherche à comprendre les forces et les faiblesses qui contrôlent les mécanismes du marché.

 

ECO 210: Principles of Microeconomics (prerequisite: QMB 210)

This course observes the behavior of individuals and firms, analyses their choices in production, consumption, and the fixing of prices and revenues. It also seeks to understand the strengths and weaknesses that control the market mechanisms. This course is concerned with the analysis of various market structures and their functional differences. It also observes the behavior of the firm and the consequences of the decisions it makes on the maximizations of its profits.

 

ECO 220: Principes de Macroéconomie (prérequis: ECO 210)

L'objectif principal de la macroéconomie est de donner à l'étudiant des outils pour comprendre la situation économique d'un pays. A l'issue de ce cours, l'étudiant sera capable de comprendre les problèmes économiques non seulement au niveau national - à travers l'étude des diverses politiques économiques, mais également au niveau international.

 

ECO 220: Principles of Macroeconomics (prerequisite: ECO 210)

This course provides with the tools to understand the economic situation for any country, and explain real and monetary flows on the aggregate level of a country. National and international economic issues are analyzed with basic concepts and tools of macroeconomic analysis.

 

ECO 310: Microéconomie des Marchés (prérequis: ECO 210)

Ce cours traite des structures des marchés des biens et des services d’une part, et des marchés des facteurs de production d’autre part. Il étudie les répercussions des stratégies des entreprises sur les prix, les quantités et les profits dans les différentes structures de marché : Concurrence pure et parfaite, monopole, duopole, oligopole, concurrence monopolistique etc. Ce cours permet de découvrir le fonctionnement de ces structures telles qu’elles existent en réalité. 

 

ECO 310: Intermediate Microeconomics (prerequisite: ECO 210)

This course describes and analyzes various market structures such as perfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly, duopoly and monopolistic competition. It examines how economic decisions are made by firms in order to determine the quantities and prices of the goods they should produce in the different types of markets. It also observes the behavior of the firm and the consequences of the decisions it makes on the maximization of its profits. It also investigates the principles of microeconomic policy and the role of government in allocating resources.

 

ECO 320: Intermediate Macroeconomics (prerequisite : ECO 220)

This course outlines key issues policymakers face in trying to manage markets and the economy. Stabilizing economic and financial crises incurs many constraints on governments, households and firms. Decisions made about taxes and spending have important macroeconomic consequences.


ECO 330: Economic Development (prerequisite : ECO 220)

This course emphasizes on the analytical and critical skills relevant to economic development in order to assess the efficiency of public policies. The course explores the theories of economic policy applied in developing countries. It deals with development issues and introduces a range of techniques for development policy analysis and practices in many of the most important areas of economic policy in developing countries.


ECO 340: International Economics and Trade (prerequisite : ECO 220)

This course is an introduction to international economics. It will introduce students to fundamental theories in the analysis of international trade of goods and services throughout the analysis of economic forces that shape patterns of trade. The course attempts to investigate why economies trade, what products they specialize in, and study some of the benefits and costs of trade. The course also emphasizes on the welfare implications of international trade and commercial policies.

 

ECO 450: Economie Financière (prérequis: QMB 350, FIN 440)

Ce cours applique les théories économiques et financières sur les décisions de gestion et d’investissement des entreprises. Le cours présente une solide initiation aux principes de base de l’analyse financière moderne ainsi que leurs applications pratiques dans les domaines de la budgétisation, de l’évaluation et la gestion des projets, des choix d’investissement et leur financement ainsi que celui de l’analyse de portefeuille.


ECO 450: Financial Economics (prerequisites: QMB 350, FIN 440)

This course is concerned with the application of both economic and financial theory to key management and investment decisions within organizations. This course provides a rigorous introduction to the fundamentals of modern financial analysis and their applications to business challenges in capital budgeting, project evaluation, corporate investment and financing decisions, and basic security analysis and investment management.

 

ECO 450: Financial Economics (prerequisites: QMB 350, FIN 440)

Financial Economics is concerned with the application of both economic and financial theory to key management and investment decisions within organizations. This course provides a rigorous introduction to the fundamentals of modern financial analysis and their applications to business challenges in capital budgeting, project evaluation, corporate investment and financing decisions, and basic security analysis and investment management.

 

ENL 099: Basic English Language

This course provides students with an integrated skill approach to understand and practice English grammar. It is based on thematic instruction that combines controlled and communicative practice with critical thinking skills and ongoing assessment.
A "B+" grade or higher in this course will allow the student to skip ENL100 in the English sequence.

 

ENL 100: Intensive English (prerequisite: ENL 099)

This course allows the student to learn the English language through reading, writing, and speaking activities. New vocabulary will be introduced throughout the course and there will be special emphasis on correct pronunciation and spelling. The course encourages the student to practice the rules that govern grammar, lexis and sentence structure, and offers plentiful opportunities to use the language in a realistic way.
A "B+" grade or higher in this course will allow the student to skip ENL101 in the English sequence.

 

ENL 101: English I (prerequisite: ENL 100)

The course focuses on reading skills by introducing key grammar and vocabulary through authentic texts taken from the Economist. It provides a large amount of language input, formal processing of grammar and plenty of written and spoken language practice.
A "B+" grade or higher in this course will exempt the student from any other remedial English course.

 

ENL 102: English II (prerequisite: ENL 101)

This course offers a realistic, informative and accessible approach to key business concepts, supported by a carefully designed syllabus. The student will acquire business language skills, new business vocabulary while at the same time bridging the gap between knowing grammatical structures and using them.

 

FIN 330: Analyse Financière (prérequis: ACT 220)

Ce cours fait au niveau des premiers chapitres, le pont entre la Comptabilité et la Finance d'entreprise ; puis, il introduit les notions de base de la finance telles que la solvabilité, la rentabilité et la liquidité au niveau de l'équilibre financier (FRN, BFR, TN). Il traite aussi la constitution du résultat de l'exercice au niveau des Soldes Intermédiaires de Gestion et l'importance de la Capacité d'Autofinancement. Il adresse l'analyse de toutes les facettes d'une entreprise grâce aux ratios financiers et aux flux patrimoniaux.

 

FIN 330: Financial Analysis (prerequisite: ACT 220)

This course deals with the execution of financial planning, the time value of money concepts, the management of cash flow, working capital management, forecasting, and the analysis of financial statements and ratios.

 

FIN 340: Gestion Financière (prérequis: FIN 330)

Ce cours traite la compréhension de l'environnement financier de l'entreprise pour aboutir à une analyse rigoureuse de quelques décisions financières. Il traite la valeur temps de l'argent, la valeur actuelle nette, le risque des titres financiers, le taux de rentabilité exigé, la valorisation des obligations et des actions ainsi que sur le choix d'investissement et le coût du capital.

 

FIN 340: Financial Management (prerequisite: FIN 330)

This course deals with the concept of risk & return, bonds & stock's valuation methods, capital budgeting techniques, project cash flows & risk analysis, cost of capital, capital structure, dividend policy and strategic long-term financing decisions.

 

FIN 410: Analyse de Crédit (prérequis: FIN 330)

Ce cours traite l'analyse financière du risque crédit du point de vue des divers prêteurs comme les banques, les créanciers ou même les fournisseurs. Il analyse la perspective du Banquier, les principaux types de prêts pour les entreprises, les critères d'analyse d'une demande de financement ainsi que l'évaluation de la cote de risque de l'emprunteur.

 

FIN 410: Credit Analysis (prerequisite: FIN 330)

This course deals with fundamental understanding of the credit risk analysis process and discusses in detail, various aspects of financial statement analysis, including ratio and cash flow analysis, among others to help in making better credit-related decisions. It also looks at various non-financial factors such as Business Plan, Industry/Sector, Top Management, etc. that could affect the creditworthiness of the borrower.

 

FIN 420: Monnaie et Banques (prérequis: FIN 340)

Ce cours présente une analyse économique des systèmes financiers au sein desquels les banques centrales conduisent la politique monétaire de leurs pays. Il expose également les fonctions économiques des banques commerciales et des autres intermédiaires financiers, dans une perspective internationale.

 

FIN 420: Money and Banking (prerequisite: FIN 340)

This course deals with classical and contemporary issues in the theory of money, banking, and financial institutions. Topics covered include: the gold standard, the structure of central banks and the Federal Reserve system, theories of money demand and money supply, the relationship between money supply and overall economic activity, the theoretical and practical aspects of monetary policies and money creation, the efficacy of fiscal policies versus monetary policies, and the role the Federal Reserve plays in economic stabilization.

 

FIN 430: Gestion Financière des Multinationales (prérequis: FIN 340)

Ce cours traite à la fois le fonctionnement des marchés internationaux et principalement les marchés des changes et les marchés dérivés, les marchés de capitaux et leur utilisation par les banques et les trésoriers d'entreprises afin de mieux gérer le risque de change et de rationaliser les financements. Il traite aussi des financements internationaux et principalement celui des exportations.

 

FIN 430: Multinational Financial Management (prerequisite: FIN 340)

This course deals with international trade and international money. International trade focuses primarily on the real transaction economy, that is, on those transactions that involve a physical movement of goods or a tangible commitment of economic resources. International money otherwise known as international finance focuses on the monetary side that is on financial transactions such as foreign exchange and international financing.

 

FIN 440: Outils Financiers (prérequis: FIN 340)

Ce cours traite le fonctionnement des marchés financiers et principalement le fonctionnement des contrats à terme tels que les futurs, les forwards, les options et les swaps ainsi que la gestion des risques à l'aide de ces contrats.

 

FIN 440: Financial Instruments (prerequisite: FIN 340)

This course deals with the workings of today's financial markets and institutions. It explains the characteristics and describes the functions of various financial instruments such as futures and forward contracts, options contracts and swap contracts, and their effects on real-world problems that managers of financial institutions have to solve.

 

FIN 450: Analyse des Investissements et Gestion de Portefeuilles (prérequis: FIN 440)

Ce cours traite le cadre général de l'investissement boursier et son environnement, les transactions sur les marchés financiers, les rendements et les risques associés, les concepts modernes de la gestion de portefeuille, les dimensions analytiques de la sélection des actions, l'évaluation des actions et les décisions d'investissement, le comportement du cours des titres, les obligations ainsi que leur évaluation et leur gestion.

 

FIN 450: Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management (prerequisite: FIN 440)

This course deals with the mechanisms of investments in securities specifically, risk and return, principles of portfolio planning, diversification concept, macro-economic valuations, technical analysis and the workings of mutual funds.

 

FIN 460: Alternative Investments (prerequisites: QMB 350, FIN 450)

The course objective is to introduce alternative assets and their role in a diversified investment portfolio, to present an overview of the main types of alternative investments – hedge funds, private equity, real estate and credit derivatives – and to provide students with an understanding of this exciting investment area and analytical tools for examining these investments.

 

FIN 470: Financial Modeling (prerequisites: QMB 350, FIN450)

This course deals with a wide range of models that can be successfully implemented using spreadsheets. The models range across the complete spectrum of finance including equities, equity options and bond options, spanning developments from the early fifties to the late nineties. The models are implemented in Excel spreadsheets, complemented with functions written using the VBA language within Excel. The resulting user-defined functions provide a portable library of programs with more than sufficient speed and accuracy.

 

FRL 099: Français de Base

Le français de base s'adresse à des apprenants de Français Langue étrangère, grands adolescents ou adultes. La perspective privilégiée est de type actionnel en ce qu'elle considère avant tout l'usager et l'apprenant d'une langue comme des acteurs sociaux ayant à accomplir des tâches (qui ne sont pas seulement langagières) dans des circonstances et un environnement donné, à l'intérieur d'un domaine d'action particulier.
Une note supérieure ou égale à « B+ » dans ce cours permettra à l'étudiant de passer au niveau FRL101 des cours de français.

 

FRL 100: Français Intensif (prérequis: FRL 099)

Ce cours vise à répondre à des besoins immédiats et urgents d'apprentissage de la langue française. Il offre une formation en communication écrite et orale telle qu'elle se pratique en français dans le monde des affaires. A l'aide d'un survol de l'usage du langage administratif, il prépare l'apprenant à acquérir le niveau A2 du CECR (Cadre Européen Commun de Référence).
Une note supérieure ou égale à « B+ » dans ce cours permettra à l'étudiant de passer au niveau FRL102 des cours de français.

 

FRL 101: Français I (prérequis: FRL 100)

Ce cours permet à l'apprenant d'éviter les erreurs qui pourraient compromettre la qualité de sa communication que ce soit au niveau de l'écrit ou de l'oral. Il le rend capable d'agir et de réagir en français dans des situations variées du monde professionnel, par la réalisation de tâches diverses. Par la richesse, la variété et le pragmatisme de son contenu, ce cours prépare efficacement au niveau B1 du CECR (Cadre Européen Commun de Référence).
Une note supérieure ou égale à « B+ » dans ce cours dispensera l'étudiant d'autres cours de mise à niveau de français.

 

FRL 102: Français II (prérequis: FRL 101)

Français II a pour objectif de faire acquérir des savoir-faire permettant de maîtriser la langue dans la plupart des situations spécifiques de la vie quotidienne (comprendre le monde du travail, parler de sa consommation, négocier un prix, faire des recommandations, exprimer des idées, comprendre les points de vue et rechercher un emploi).

 

GER 200: Writing Skills (prerequisite: ENL 102)

Writing Skills is a course that takes students from paragraph structuring to essay writing through a process approach. It teaches learners how to order and link paragraphs into cohesive and coherent essays and to create the various paragraph types that are used in writing assignments. Writing Skills includes work on how to generate ideas, organize material, draft, and review and revise written work.

 

GER 202: Communication Ecrite et Rhétorique (prérequis: FRL 102)

Ce cours est spécialement conçu pour des étudiants en gestion afin de leur offrir les bases nécessaires de la communication formelle, et la rédaction de documents professionnels. L'étudiant apprendra les modalités de rédaction du CV, des lettres relatives aux affaires, des rapports et des comptes rendus, etc. Dans un second temps, il développera certains aspects relatifs aux modalités de conception et d'exposition d'un travail de recherche.

 

GER 202: Sophomore Rhetoric (prerequisite: GER 200)

This course focuses on critical thinking, reading, and writing with special emphasis on argument and persuasion. The course material will address current and controversial issues. Students will be expected to conduct independent research. Debates and general discussions will require students to provide facts, examples, and other types of evidence to support statements and points of views.

 

GER 204: Business Communication (prerequisite: GER 200)

The course helps students use technology wisely, work quickly, and communicate with close attention to ethics and etiquette. The first part of the course focuses on the 3-step writing process by analyzing the audience, the situation, and the media in order to deliver an accepted message. The second part of the course focuses on writing reports, doing oral presentations by designing and writing power point slides. The last part focuses on writing employment messages and interviewing for jobs.

 

GER 206: Communication Orale (prérequis: GER 202)

Ce cours est spécialement conçu pour des élèves en fin d'études afin de les aider à maîtriser les bonnes techniques de la présentation Power Point et à ne pas être intimidés par la prise de parole en public. Au cours des séances, l'étudiant apprendra à surmonter son stress, à développer son charisme, à tirer le meilleur parti de sa voix et de son corps et à réaliser une présentation sans tomber dans les pièges de la redondance et de l'ennui.

 

GER 206: Oral Communication Arts (prerequisite: GER 202)

This course focuses on public speaking. The course material will address current methods in presenting oral presentations. Along with developing listening and note-taking skills, students will be expected to gain experience in organizing ideas, researching evidence for support of speeches, writing preparation and delivery outlines, analyzing different types of audiences, and presenting oral presentations, both with and without visual aid.

 

GER 210: Computer Skills

This course introduces Information Technology in view of its applications in business. It aims at giving the students necessary skills to automate office work. Topics covered are: PC hardware, the Windows environment, office tools. Laboratory sessions will fully support word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) in detail, and presentation programs like Power Point. It will also familiarize students with Web browsers and the HTML markup language.

 

GER 220: Advanced Computer Skills (prerequisite: GER210)

This course is intended to familiarize the student with the use and application of database functions in the solving of business problems. Databases systems will be covered with the study of Microsoft Access: Table creation, ERD, queries and forms, simple SQL Statements. Students will be expected to develop a working knowledge using these tools.

 

GER 230: قانون الأعمال

تتضمن هذه المادة دراسة القواعد العامة لقوانين التجارة والأعمال والشركات التجارية في لبنان، وهي تظهر المعلومات الأساسية لبيئة العمل التجارية وحدود الحقوق والموجبات فيها.
يتألف برنامج المادة من المواضيع التالية: الأشخاص القانونيون والذمة المالية - العقود - الأعمال التجارية - التجار - المؤسسة التجارية – الشركات التجارية ( شركة التضامن، الشركة المحدودة المسؤولية،الشركة المساهمة).

 

GER 230: Droit des Affaires

Ce cours étudie les règles générales de la législation du commerce et des affaires ainsi que des entreprises commerciales au Liban. Sujets traités : Personnes morales et patrimoine financier, contrats, affaires commerciales, entreprises et sociétés commerciales.

 

GER 230: Business Law

The main objective of this course is to provide the students with a solid background in Lebanese Commercial Law. It covers the essentials of the Lebanese Commercial Law and their application in the Lebanese judicial system; it will be based on a wide number of practical cases and examples that make students understand the law when it comes into practice. Topics include: the nature of the law, the court systems, contracts, commercial paper, business man or merchant, agency, partnerships, corporations, and banking operations.

 

GER 232: Informatics Law – Droit de l’Informatique

This course treats the judicial rules that apply to the human activities involving informatics. It will examine the legal protection of various informatics creations (computer programs, databases, semiconductors, multimedia…). The informatics contracts concerning software or hardware equipment and will also be part of our course. The hosting of data and Internet service providing will be examined, especially the responsibilities of the parties involved and their obligations. Treatment of personal data by the use of informatics has huge effect on the privacy and is an important subject.

 

GER 240: Etudes Culturelles (prérequis: FRL 102)

Ce cours présente une introduction aux études culturelles mettant en relief les différents auteurs et événements qui ont influence à travers l'histoire le développement social et économique du monde. Il donne aussi réponse à des questions pertinentes faisant le lien entre économie, sociologie, communication et management qui permettront d'explorer les voies d'un futur optimiste.

 

GER 240: Cultural Studies (prerequisite: ENL 102)

The course introduces cultural studies, emphasizing the history, theoretical foundations and the disciplinary boundaries and traditions worldwide. It will also focus on the intellectual development of cultural studies by reviewing basic ideologies and concepts: Marxism, fascism, democracy, theocratic ruling, the questions of gender and racism.

 

GER 250: Développement Durable (prérequis: FRL 102)

Ce cours d'introduction à la gestion et le développement durable propose d'analyser de manière systémique et critique les répercussions de nos activités économiques sur l'environnement, et les solutions pour limiter leur impact. Il propose une réflexion autour du concept de développement durable, des relations que les êtres humains entretiennent avec la nature. Il vise également à clarifier le cadre institutionnel et économique dans lequel le concept de développement durable apparaît et se déploie ainsi que la question des relations entre les entreprises et leur environnement.

 

GER 250: Sustainable Development (prerequisite: ENL 102)

This course will introduce to students the core concepts, principles and practices of sustainable development (SD). It examines the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of SD by focusing on "Green" management, changing patterns of consumption, and distribution of resources.

 

GER 260 – Introduction à la Psychologie (prérequis: FRL 102)

Ce cours introduit les étudiants aux principes de base des études psychologiques à travers les auteurs incontournables, et les différentes perspectives théoriques (psychanalyse, behaviorisme, biologie…) et les travaux les plus récents. Sont également systématiquement soulignées les bases scientifiques de la discipline, en expliquant les étapes du raisonnement psychologique à partir de très nombreuses expériences et études. Ce cours offre une vision globale de la psychologie et un socle cohérent de connaissances, en progressant du simple au complexe, du biologique au relationnel.

 

GER 260: Introduction to Psychology (prerequisite: ENL 102)

The main course objectives include a thorough understanding of the major theories and principal research methods of psychology and the development of critical thinking skills with respect to scientific data as it relates to human behavior. By the end of this course, the student should demonstrate these skills in speech and writing. Knowledge will be drawn from the major approaches of psychology with the aim of explaining, describing, and predicting behavior and cognitive processes.

 

GER 270: Human Rights (prerequisite: ENL 102)

The primary aim of this course is to encourage and teach students to develop critical thinking about political and cultural dimensions of democracy and Human Rights. The course focuses on different strategies of democracy in relation to Human Rights issues such as the origin and thoughts of Human Rights issues in law, local and international politics and application.

 

GER 270: حقوق الإنسان (prerequisite: ENL 102)

ترمي هذه المادة الى تشجيع وتعليم الطلاب على الأبعاد الثقافية والعلمية المرتبطة بحقوق الإنسان وحرياته العامة وتطوير التفكير النقدي حول الأبعاد السياسية والثقافية للديمقراطية. وترتكز الدراسة على استراتيجيات مختلفة للديمقراطية فيما يتعلق بقضايا حقوق الإنسان مثل الأصل والأفكار في قضايا حقوق الإنسان في القانون والسياسة المحلية والدولية وتطبيقها. وهي تتضمن: تعريف الطلاب على النظريات الأساسية والقوانين والأدبيات المتعلقة بالديموقراطية وحقوق الإنسان وبيان مشاكل تحديد وتعزيز وحماية حقوق الإنسان، والإطلاع على حالات حقيقية متصلة بالمنظمات غير الحكومية وتقييم دورها.

 

GER 310: Enseignement Social de l’Eglise - Social Christian Studies - تعليم الكنيسة الإجتماعي

ان غاية هذه المادة هي تعريف الطالب بالمذاهب الإقتصادية بشكل عام وتفكير الكنيسة حول هذه المذاهب والخطوط العريضة من أجل العمل الإقتصادي المستند الى أخلاقيات الأعمال، وذلك بغية تزويد الطلاب بالمقاييس الصحيحة الصالحة لتكون سبباً أساسياً في نجاح كل عمل أو مشروع أو نهج إداري.ان تعليم الكنيسة الإجتماعي المستقى من رسائل الأحبار والأساقفة يتناول العمل البشري في الأمور الزمنية انطلاقاً من الخدمة المجانية مروراً بالعمل المأجور وصولاً الى ميادين الإقتصاد والسياسة من المجتمع الصغير أي العائلة امتداداً حتى الأمم المتحدة.
تتناول تعاليم الكنيسة حق الإنسان بالعمل وتعتبره مشاركة الله في تطوير الذات والمجتمع. كما تتناول الميادين الإقتصادية من المشاريع الصغرى الى المؤسسات الإقتصادية العالمية وتضع أسساً عقلانية وأخلاقية لنجاح هذه المؤسسات والقيام بدورها الناجح.

 

GER 320: Droit du Travail et de la Sécurité Sociale - Social Security and Labor Law - قانون العمل والضمان الإجتماعي

تحتوي هذه المادة على المبادئ الأساسية المتعلقة بقضايا العمل والضمان الإجتماعي وهي تعمل على تعريف الطلاب على أهمّ القوانين في الحقل الاجتماعي الضروري اطلاعهم عليها في ممارستهم لاية مهنة يختارونها بعد نيلهم شهادتهم. تعتبر هذه المادة خلاصة القوانين الرئيسية الاربعة في التشريع الاجتماعي، أي : قانون العمل- قانون الضمان الاجتماعي- قانون عقود العمل الجماعية والوساطة والتحيكم - قانون طوارىء العمل.

 

GER 330: Public Finance - Finances Publiques - المالية العامة

تعنى هذه المادة بشكل أساسي بدراسة مالية الدولة لناحية الإيرادات العامة ( الضرائب والرسوم ...) والنفقات وهي تنطلق من الموازنة للحديث عن اعدادها وإقرارها وتنفيذها ومراقبة تنفيذها، ودور السلطات المختصة في كافة مراحل الإعداد والتنفيذ. لن تقتصر الدراسة على المقاربات القانونية الوضعية بل ستتعدى ذلك الى بحث مفاهيم موازنة الأداء والبرامج وتصنيف الموازنة للنظر في امكانية افادة القطاعات المختلفة من المال العام، وسيجري البحث في دور المواطن في الموازنة وكيفية قراءة الأرقام العامة والحسابات الإدارية للتعرف على أوجه الإنفاق العام وموارده ومصير أموال الشعب.

 

GER 341: Langue Italienne

Ce cours donne aux étudiants une base de la langue italienne correspondant au niveau A1 du Cadre Commun Européen des Langues. Une attention particulière est portée au développement des capacités de communications qui sont stimulées par l’intermédiaire d’activités centrées sur l’authenticité de la situation, sur la diversité et sur l’interaction de la classe. En même temps la réflexion grammaticale, la fixation ainsi que le renforcement des notions apprises sont bien présents.

 

GER 345: Sports Management (prerequisite: None)

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with the appropriate theoretical and practical knowledge of various sports disciplines and introduce basic management concepts and practices in organizing and managing sports events. The student will improve his/her general physical fitness and skill performance in basketball and mini football using the campus facilities. Principles, techniques, safe practices, and strategies will be taught throughout the class. International rules and regulations governing competitions in such disciplines will be covered as well.

 

GER 360: Real Estate Management - إدارة الشؤون العقارية

تتناول هذه المادة ادارة الشؤون العقارية، وتنطلق من تعريف السجل العقاري ووثائقه والقيود الجارية فيه وما يترتب عليها من نتائج، وتعرِج على التأمين العقاري لتعريفه وبيان إجراءاته، ومن ثم يتناول الحديث تنظيم الملكية المشتركة في العقارات المبنية وكيفية إكتساب الشركات للحقوق العينية في لبنان ليتنهي بدراسة مختلف الرسوم العقارية وحالات الاعفاء منها، ان مقاربات هذه المادة ونطاق تعليمها تعطي معلومات هامة عن ادارة العقارات والإستدامة فيها.

Ce cours sert à présenter aux étudiants les fondements de la gestion des ressources humaines dans les organisations et à le familiariser avec les rôles, les responsabilités et les principales activités de la gestion des ressources humaines : analyse des postes, planification des ressources humaines, recrutement, sélection, évaluation du rendement, formation et développement, rémunération directe et rémunération indirecte, etc.

This course is an introductory course that presents the fundamentals of human resource management in the organizations. More specifically, it familiarizes the student with the roles, the responsibilities and the main activities of human resource management: job analysis, human resource planning, recruitment, selection, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation and benefits, etc.

 

HRM 420: Développement des Ressources Humaines (prérequis: HRM 410)

HRM 430 – Evaluation de la Performance et Rémunération (prérequis: HRM 410)

Ce cours permet aux étudiants de comprendre l'importance de l'évaluation du rendement et de décrire et d'appliquer le processus et les méthodes de son évaluation. De même, ce cours présente les différentes composantes de la rémunération et connaitre le processus de détermination des salaires. En plus, l'étudiant pourra comprendre le lien et l'influence de l'évaluation de la performance sur le système de rémunération.

 

HRM 430: Appraisal and Compensation of Employees (prerequisite: HRM 410)

Reward and appraisal systems are key contributors to organizational effectiveness. In this course students will learn how such systems operate to attract, retain and motivate a competent workforce. Further students will gain an understanding of how to assess reward and appraisal systems in terms of the criteria of equity and cost effectiveness and how to assess and diagnose compensation management issues and problems and develop appropriate solutions.

 

HRM 440: Dotation en Personnel (prérequis: HRM 410)

Ce cours souligne l’aspect stratégique de la dotation en personnel et expose le processus et les différentes méthodes de recrutement et de sélection des employés. Il permet aussi aux étudiants de faire connaissance avec les différents instruments et sources nécessaires à l’obtention d’un emploi et comprendre le l’importance de l’accueil et de l’intégration des nouveaux employés.

 

HRM 440: Organizational Staffing (prerequisite: HRM 410)

This course provides an in-depth examination of the staffing process. Procedures for human resources needs assessment are discussed. Recruitment strategies and the process of organizational choice of candidates are explored. It prepares the future manager to take a strategic approach to the identification, attraction, selection, deployment, and retention of talent.

 

HRM 450 – Gestion de la Diversité (prérequis: MGT 210)

Ce cours interroge les enjeux de la diversité et sensibilise les étudiants aux différences culturelles qui en découlent en exposant les éléments et le contexte de la diversité dans l'environnement interne et externe de l'entreprise. Par la même, ce cours permet aux étudiants d'appréhender la culture d'entreprise et les démarches managériales qui lui sont associées au niveau national et global.

 

HRM 450: MANAGING DIVERSITY (prerequisite: MGT 210)

This course considers the specific issues concerned with managing a diverse workforce and clientele; ethnicity, class, religious beliefs, age, gender, sexual orientation, and learning or physical disabilities will be considered. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will know what diversity in the workplace is, understand ways to achieve diversity in the workplace, learn about discrimination in workplace and be more aware about diversity issues in the world and business.

 

MAT 101: Algèbre et Statistique

Ce cours permet une présentation simple de sujets d'algèbre aussi bien variés et qu'essentiels, tel que: le langage de la théorie des ensembles; le raisonnement mathématique; les polynômes et les ensembles numériques; l'équation du second degré; et les systèmes d'équations et inéquations linéaires. Le cours englobe aussi une introduction à la statistique descriptive et le calcul des probabilités.

 

MAT 101: Algebra and Statistics

This course consists of a simple illustration of various and essential subjects of algebra such as: set theory, mathematical logic, set of numbers, polynomials, second degree equations, systems of linear equations, and inequalities. In addition, the course provides an introduction to the concepts of descriptive statistics and probability theory.

Ce cours contient les notions essentielles de mathématiques indispensables pour les étudiants qui ont montré des lacunes en analyse lors de leur test d'admission, afin de leur permettre une poursuite normale des études dans les matières faisant appels aux techniques quantitatives. Ce cours fait appel aux fonctions d'une variable réelle ; les suites numériques; le calcul intégral ; la fonction logarithme et la fonction exponentielle.

This course focuses on the critical personal and organizational issues of the management information systems (MIS) function. The course presents an organizational view of how to use information technology to create competitive firms, manage global organizations, and provide useful products and services to customers. Topics IT infrastructure, IS types, databases and business intelligence, telecommunication systems, and the strategic use of information systems, and social and ethical issues involved with information systems.

 

MIS 410: Conception et Administration des Bases de Données (prérequis: MIS 400)

Ce cours introduit les concepts de base nécessaires à la collecte, l'organisation et le partage des données à travers une organisation. Les sujets traités sont : définition de données, modélisation et normalisation ainsi que les requêtes et les mises à jour en utilisant le langage SQL. Les étudiants devront présenter un projet de conception de base de données utilisant SQL Server comme système de gestion des bases de données.

 

MIS 410: Database Design and Administration (prerequisite: MIS 400)

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts needed to collect, organize and share data across an organization. The course covers data definition, modeling and normalization of data, and the retrieval and update of data using the Structured Query Language (SQL). Students will be required to design a term project involving a database software product using SQL Server as a database management system.

 

MIS 420: Réseaux et Télécommunication (prérequis: GER 210)

Le cours fournit les éléments de base de la communication de données et des spécifications des réseaux dans les technologies de télécommunication dans ses deux volets matériels et logiciel. This course provides an in-depth knowledge of data communication and networking requirement including networking and telecommunication technologies, hardware and software. Emphasis is upon the analysis and design of networking, cost-benefit analysis, and evaluation of connectivity options are also covered. Students learn to evaluate and select different communication options within an organization.

 

MIS 430: Programmation de Gestion I (prérequis: GER 220)

Ce cours introduit les concepts de base de programmation. Dans une première démarche on construit la solution logique d'un problème de gestion en utilisant éventuellement des organigrammes ou des pseudo-codes, et dans une seconde étape on code la solution dans un langage de programmation tel que VB. Les sujets traités sont : Types de données; expressions; variables et opérateurs; structures de contrôles; fonctions et modules; chaînes de caractères; interface graphique (GUI).

 

MIS 430: Business Programming I (prerequisite: GER 220)

This course introduces the basic concepts of programming. It focuses first on creating a logical solution for problem solving using sometimes flowcharts or pseudo codes, then developing a solution using a programming language such as VB. Main problems and applications are taken from a business environment. Basic discussed topics are: Data types; Expressions; Variables and operators; Control structures; Arrays; Procedures; functions and Modules; Strings; Graphical user interface.

Une continuation de MIS430 avec une approche Orientée Objet utilisant la plateforme .NET. Les étudiants devront présenter et documenter un projet utilisant une connexion avec une base de données.

A continuation of MIS430 with an Object Oriented approach using the .NET platform. Students are expected to document and develop a business application using a database connection.

 

MIS 445: Analyse et Conception des Systèmes (prérequis: MGT 210)

Ce cours a pour objectif l'étude et l'analyse des composantes d'un système d'information en vue de son informatisation. Les sujets couverts sont : initialisation d'un projet, redéfinition d'un processus de gestion, collecte des besoins, méthodologies et outils d'analyse (ERD, DFD et UML). Le cours met en relief les compétences en gestion et en documentation dans un travail d'équipe. Les étudiants auront à réaliser un projet documenté utilisant Microsoft Visio et le présenter.

 

MIS 445: Systems Analysis and Design (prerequisite: MGT 210)

This course is designed to identify study and analyze the components of business information systems in view of its automation. Topics covered include project initiation, business process reengineering, requirements gathering, methodologies and tools (ERD, DFD, and UML). Emphasis will be placed on business practices and documentation skills in a team environment. Students will conduct a systems study and will present their findings in oral and written form using Microsoft Visio.

 

MIS 460: Administration of Information Security (prerequisite: MIS 420)

This course covers the examination of the policies, procedures and staffing functions necessary to organize an administrative ongoing security functions in the organization. Topics include security practices, security architecture and models, continuity planning and disaster recovery planning. Students will learn to use the tools that will assist in the management process.

 

MIS 470: Web Application and Development (prerequisite: MIS 410)

This course focuses on the design of business applications in the web environment. Topics include corporate portal, client-server and web applications. Students will understand the principles of distributed application; learn how to set-up a web server and build web applications with database connectivity. Several tools, software packages, and example web applications will be demonstrated.

 

MIS 475: E-business (prerequisite: MIS 400)

The objective of this course is to give students a fundamental understanding of E-business concepts and applications. It explores what an e-business, e-commerce and e-government are and how they are managed. Students become familiar with infrastructure requirements needed to do business on the web. Topics covered are: web-based tools; security issues faced by online businesses; electronic payment systems; and the legal, ethical and international issues that impact an online business are covered.

 

MIS 480: MIS Project Management (prerequisite: MIS 400)

The course covers essential concepts in the developing of an IS project and includes planning, development, organization, control and estimation of a project and its resources. Topics covered: MIS project stages, work breakdown structure, scheduling, project risk analysis and management, quality control, project resources, monitoring and completion. Students will be exposed to CPM/PERT using Microsoft Project and will develop and present a project.

 

MIS 485: MIS Strategic Management (prerequisite: MIS 400)

This course prepares students to be effective exploiters and managers of information technology. Strategic approaches for dealing with contemporary issues faced by general managers such as globalization, time compression, and technology integration are explored. An integrative class project is used to pull together operational concepts from lower level information system and business courses as they apply to the management of information technology.

This course explores different areas affecting and influencing the consumer as a buying unit, involved in an exchange process. This course is designed for students interested in understanding services and helping organizations leverage service for value creation, market differentiation and competitive advantage. Services, for the purpose of this course, will be interpreted to include all activities in which a service is provided (possibly including a physical tangible product as part of it).

 

MKT 440: Integrated Marketing Communications (prerequisite: MKT 210)

This course is designed to introduce you the field of advertising and promotion. The emphasis in this course will be on the role of advertising and other promotional mix elements in the integrated marketing communications program (IMC) of an organization.

 

MKT 450: Etudes de Marchés (prérequis: MKT 210, QMB 220)

Ce cours permet une approche exhaustive et pratique des études de marchés en en détaillant toutes les étapes de façon claire et approfondie : identification de l'objectif, méthodologie à adopter, modèles de types exploratoire, descriptif et causal, recueil d'information sur le terrain, analyse de données. L'étudiant sera aussi introduit à l'utilisation de logiciels d'analyse de données.

The task of marketing research is to assess the Information needs and to provide management with relevant, accurate, reliable, valid and current information to aid marketing decision making. The approach of the course is intended to be very basic and also general, so that it can be applied to conduct research in any area of management and not just marketing.

 

QMB 210: Maths pour la Gestion (prérequis: MAT 102)

Les étudiants en gestion ont besoin de se familiariser avec une diversité toujours croissante des outils mathématiques. Ce cours permet une représentation approfondie de sujets aussi variés qu'essentiels, tel que l'algèbre linéaire (ou matricielle); le système d'équations linéaires; les fonctions à plusieurs variables, ainsi que les sujets de Mathématiques financières; comme l'intérêt simple et composé, les annuités, et les emprunts indivis.

 

QMB 210: Business Math (prerequisite: MAT 102)

This course surrounds fundamental topics from General and Financial Math; e.g. matrix algebra; system of linear equations; functions of real variable; integrals; logarithm and exponential functions, functions of several variables; simple and compound interests, simple and General Annuities, and Amortization Tables.

 

QMB 220: Méthodes Quantitatives de Gestion (prérequis: QMB 210)

L'ambition du présent cours est de donner sous une forme pratique et sans recours excessif à l'appareil mathématique, un exposé intègre des techniques de statistique descriptive et Inférentielle ainsi que des techniques de probabilité et distributions qui sont aujourd'hui indispensables aux responsables et aux cadres d'entreprises pour la prise de décision en situation d'incertitude.

 

QMB 220: Quantitative Methods for Business (prerequisite: QMB 210)

This course provides students with basic knowledge of analyzing data using various statistical techniques; such as Descriptive Statistics and Probability Distributions, Correlation Regression Analysis, Estimation and hypotheses testing methods as to how and where appropriately they can be applied, and use of computer based data analysis packages like SPSS.

 

QMB 340: Méthodologie de la Recherche (prérequis: QMB 220)

Ce cours présente aux étudiants la méthodologie de recherche ainsi que les différentes méthodes quantitatives et qualitatives utilisées; comme l'analyse de l'environnement et la définition du problème, la revue de la littérature, la collecte des données, la méthodologie suivie pour vérifier les hypothèses définies, la construction des questionnaires, les techniques d'échantillonnage, la validation statistique et l'interprétation des résultats.

 

QMB 340: Research Methodology (prerequisite: QMB 220)

This course introduces the students to a systematic process which attempts to answer scientifically and through research, the questions that confront them in the world in which they live, as well as to teach them how the research is to be conducted, the various tools and methodologies to be applied, emphasizing the limitations that may be involved, and how to interpret the results.

 

QMB 350: Principles of Econometrics (prerequisite: QMB 220)

The course introduces students to statistical thinking in order to get a handle on the uncertainty and ambiguity in phenomena they want to understand. The course covers sampling distributions, estimation and confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, regressions and statistical testing, analysis of variance, and time series analysis. The approach uses many hands-on, SPSS calculations, and in-class experiments to convey the idea that underlies statistics.

 

QMB 410: Recherche Opérationnelle (prérequis: QMB 220)

Ce cours traite les problèmes d'optimisation de management et de finance de l'entreprise en utilisant un ensemble de méthodes et techniques rationnelles d'analyse et de synthèse utilisable pour élaborer de meilleures décisions; comme la programmation linéaire, les réseaux de transport, les problèmes d'affectation et d'ordonnancement.

 

QMB 410: Operations Research (prerequisite: QMB 220)

This course introduces students to deterministic and stochastic models in operations research. It helps them formulate, analyze, and solve mathematical models that represent real-world problems. The course covers linear programming and the simplex algorithm, transportation, networks, integer and Queuing models, and allocation problems.
